This is an illustration I created to accompany an article in the Northumbrian magazine (issue June/July 2012) all about North East Colliery brass bands.
I have a little bit of a connection with this topic, as a child, I can still recall my father in his splendid black, yellow and red trimmed uniform playing the trumpet for our village brass band (The Pegswood Miners Brass Band).
I always remember waking up on the morning of the Miners Picnic by the deep boom boom of the big base drum as the band began their march up our colliery row, they always started in the half’s (the thoroughfare between the terraces) in the middle of our street (Langwell Terrace), which as it happens was a few yards from my bedroom window!

I`m really a self taught artist. A Geordie lad, hailing from a small mining village called Pegswood in Northumberland, originally, from Polish parents. I now live in Stannington, Northumberland, where I’m enjoying all that retirement has to offer.

I am available for commissions, including portraiture, animals and also for one off caricatures, for hire to wedding receptions, parties, local schools, fun fairs and fetes etc.
