This is a little known diversion I sometimes do, I was asked if I could restore a couple of very old faded, damaged and aged photo’s of a friends grandparents.
I normally just use Photoshop to clean up the images (which is what Photoshop is made for) but my friend, asked if I could sketch them instead.
This sketch took me just over 4 hours over two days to complete and required some really, really tight, sketching and some of the finest cross hatching I’ve ever attermpted using only 3H and a 2B pencils.
I wanted to remain as true to the original as I could (my years of police background kind of helps me there). This is a precious memory and I just wanted to make sure I could recover it through my pencil work. I aslso decide to put them closer together in one sketch, as it looks more friendly.
This is the final result, hope she is happy with the finished article.
