I thought this made for some interesting viewing
one of our large gum trees came down during the storms we had here a about a month ago.. there were some spooky and strange stong gusts of wind.. it’s about 35 years old this tree and very young as far as gum trees go
we hardly heard it fall so it must have come down quite slow!

we heard an odd thud and then a crunch and ran outside and noticed that half of our porch had been ripped away… we were so lucky though as the tree fell between the pottery shed
and the house..if it had fallen the other way.. then half our house would have gone!..wow lucky indeed! also lucky that it fell over the fence and missed our neighbours back door by about an inch!
I like to think that because we treat our beautiful trees so well and I hug them a lot.. this one decided to be kind back to us when it had to fall..LOL
bob has carved up the whole tree and it took him ages.. so there is a ton of wood we can use for the fire pit and give to friends and family..he even made a lovely carving out of some of the logs (see “tree man” in my portfolio)
all in all quite an experience and one I don’t really want to go through again any time too soon!

regards
cathy xxooo
