Thanks for waiting to view this finished painting.

I had a few people asking me about it .. as they wanted to see the completed one.. that’s very nice to have such interested viewers !
I think this painting is a lot better now and I have added and subtracted here and there..I’m very happy with it!

Thanking gemma my big sisiter who suggested that I start to paint some nude women in domestic scenes..this is maybe not quite so domestic and she has her clothes on..hha! ….but the garden can still be a major chore for us women…and it’s cold and wintery in victoria now.. ..so best she keeps her clothing on.

much love

This is marvellous Catherine! Reminiscent of those rich medieval illustrations.

  • Thankyou john..that’s very nice of you to say that ..maybe it does have that slight look of some ancient medieval art ..it must be something deep inside me that hangs around and emerges sometimes when I paint, though I never set out to paint that way on purpose.
I do love the work from all of those ancient times and I do feel that art from that era has impacted and influenced me as well .

..sometimes I day dream and think I might have been an old monk who painted manuscript pages in a very dark room…in a former life.I’m starting to look like one of those old monks these days and this house is sooo dark…..hha!

so glad you like this painting.

This is a riot of colour Catherine…one of your best to date…. I agree that it is always better with clothes on….clothes add character….my personal preference

  • Thanks janis..that’s very nice of you to comment on this one, and so glad you like it,
I have to agree..I’m starting to prefer the clothes on look ! .there are certain nudes that look wonderful as you know..but I think they have to be painted so well to get away with it..sometimes painted nudes can look so ugly .so I’m very careful now when I try to paint a nude. ..clothes on are better choice for me too !

I wonder if there is a touch of ‘Eve’ in this painting Catherine? No Adam to be seen though :) I don’t think these fruits are forbidden. Are they doves in the tree depicting peace and harmony I wonder? The sun shines down…makes everything grow and there is great abundance. Beautiful array of colour and a very harmonous aura to this one my friend ~ Anni xxx

  • Thanks so much ani..how lovely that you say all that about this one..much appreciated!

you know a lady did have a similar comment on my unfinished version… that this was “eve”.. maybe that was from you anni..I’ll go back and check soon
..anyway It’s a very interesting thought about eve..and it could very well be her on a subconcious level and maybe thoughts left over from my catholic upbringing..? … as for adam..yes I wonder where he is then.? maybe around the corner making a BBQ hha!
..maybe I should try an “adam and eve” painting next … definately food for thought !
    thanks again
