The name “volks wagen” means “people’s car”, & the idea was to build a car for all the good Aryan German workers toiling away building the autobahns, that is so long they were loyal Nazis.
The first VW’s were built in Porsche factories, & there was no “Volkswagen” company during WW2.
After World War 2, the “Volkswagen Corporation” appeared both in Europe & the Americas, notably in Brazil. Almost certainly their re-emergence in Brazil was no coincidence, but rather was planned: in 1944 Albert Speer began a secret & intensive program of moving all of the Third Reich’s capital offshore via Portugal..
It hardly seems co-incidental that VW gave their full support to the military junta that took over the country in a military coup, they in return outlawed trades unions, especially in their car industry.
