Chapter 13- Trying. (Cussing is in here)
Sam.
It went from a sex dream to a complete nightmare in the space of what felt like five minutes. Terrie was sticking her tongue down my throat and pushing her hand through my hair then suddenly she was shivering and in the fetal position in a corner, saying my name. I walked towards her and her head shot up and looked at me, petrified.
“Sam..” She muttered, looking through strands of hair in her face.
“What is it, Terrie? What’s-” I asked and she started screaming.
“SAM! SAAAAAAM! SAAA-” I woke up breathing hard just as lightning crashed loudly outside.
“Jesus Christ..” I replied sitting up in bed and rubbing my face. I looked across from my bed at the window which was spurting rain at me. I sighed and fell back against the pillows. I replayed the dream, the part where she was in the corner. Even though I wanted to replay the start of the dream. What the hell was that about? I wondered. It made me want to go check up on her just to see if she was in a corner screaming her head off.
Rolling over, I tried to go back to sleep, but that wasn’t happening anytime soon. Not until I knew for sure she was sleeping in her room and not on the floor. I huffed and rolled out of bed and put my black boxers back on.
I walked out of the door, walked to where Terrie’s hallway was and turned the hallway light on, rubbing my eyes. Then, my right eye caught something. I left my hand on my eyelid and looked. Nick stood there like a deer in the headlights, his mouth slightly open like he didn’t know what to say.
Behind him was the abnormally large vase that Aiden continuously broke on purpose just to piss Vyncent off. What was abnormal about it now was that there was a set of eyes looking directly at me. I took my hand off of my eye slowly. The eyes rose up and it stood up, growing at least six feet. The creature could have passed for an alien to any normal human being. If only we were that lucky. Nick smiled at me like he could kill me with his bare hands.
“What have you done, Nick?” I asked giving him my pissed off look instead of my. The stink that I expected was drifting my way. The creature was a Mortus demon which meant a dead demon and I know what it is capable of.
“I think you can guess.” He patted the creature on the back and it snarled at me. I could feel blackness trying to seep into my brain, but I fought it.
“Why, Nick?” I already knew.
“I am sick of your games, Sam. I’m not some dog you can just boss around and annoy. I’m not flipping over for you anymore.” He raised his voice with every word and lightning crashed outside as thunder rumbled under it.
“Well then what the fuck are you doing with that thing?” My vision trailed behind Nick and I saw that Terrie’s door was open. I was prepared for a war rage. I glowered at him. “What have you done to Terrie?”
“Oh, nothing. She’s a feisty little bitch, but I’ve got her calmed down for now. Tristan wants her, Sam. You know that. You knew it the minute you heard about the Hemron demon.” He was right, which pissed me off even more.
“He’s not going to give you anything, Nick. You of all people know that. Don’t be your stupid self and go chasing after him when you know damn well that there’s nothing in return, but empty promises.”
“Kiss my ass, you’re just jelouse because he got to me first.”
“That’s exactly it. I’m just quivering with envy.” I played out, sarcastically. I gritted my teeth. “Where’s Terrie?”
“You’ll see..” Nick said, snapping his fingers and the demon leaped out at me and I struck him hard with my fist, weaponless. Nick grabbed air on the ground and Terrie’s body formed. I should have stayed focused on the current demon trying to kill me, but she was in bad shape. Bruises lined her neck and arms, where he must have tried to choke her.
The demon’s arm came flying at my head and I ducked just in time and threw a punch at his gut and ran after Nick, who was carrying Terrie quickly down the stairs. He easily caught up with me, grabbing me by my legs and throwing me over the railing like doll. I didn’t care if he threw me at the wall fifteen times. All I could think about was Terrie and keeping the demon out of my mind.
Nothing on, but boxers and a sock left on from yesterday’s outfit, I couldn’t do much damage. I moved my body back and then forth and grabbed onto the railing just as he let go. He bent down lower to my hands. I knew he would tear off every finger until I let go and I did. Thunder growled outside.
Vyncent taught me how to fall and not do any damage to myself if I had to jump from a high elevation. With demon hunter blood, it could be a gift and a curse. You could hear the faintest breath and then you needed four years of practice. I wasn’t finished with all of the lessons that I needed to know. Only having two years worth wasn’t a lot.
I landed lightly on my feet and the demon jumped right behind me. I looked behind him when I saw movement. Of course. Aiden stood there in the hallway with a bag of pretzels in one hand and an energy drink in the other. He felt my pain when it came to being weaponless. Aiden shifted his eyes behind me watching Nick run away with Terrie.
I looked at him, he looked at me, we nodded and he threw his pretzels down and attacked the monster, throwing the energy drink at him and he screamed. Demons hate acid.
I ran after Nick and he ran faster. He looked back at me and smiled and just as I ran out the door, hands grabbed me and I elbowed and punched, the demon rumbled in his chest. His skin burned against mine, it was an Acere demon. If Aiden spurred energy drinks on this damn thing, its skin would absorb it and be more powerful.
I yelled in frustration, grabbed his arms, which were around my neck, and brought my feet up and kicked him hard somewhere. If a human did this, it would have no affect. The demon loosened his grip to form in front of me and I grabbed the potted plant from where he was standing and crashed it into his body. The demon lurched forward at me and I grabbed his face and hand, but he managed to push his face into my neck and bite.
“FUCK!” I yelled out and the demon let me fall to the steps. My body was still recovering itself from the acid that tried to melt it, let alone the venom that was sinking into me.
“Hurts, doesn’t it?” Nick said, leaning over me. Everything was swirling around him. He laughed as I closed my eyes. His laughter was the last thing I heard.
