From my perspective, photo art can have many unique expressions and subtle meanings. While I’ve often attempted to discover a particular style, I’ve found that I’m much happier if my work is more eclectic and evolving and not easy to label – sometimes it is blatantly realistic but can just as often be whimisical and humorous.

While a career financial salesperson by trade (to pay the bills), my creative needs take precedence in ensuring real life fulfillment. I’ve also been a fashion and studio photographer in a past life but my present venue tends to be outdoors in natural settings taking advantage of natural light. Today, I’m most often found at the shore or in the mountains, stalking an unusual perspective of the ordinary scene or subject, then recreating it with some digital tuning to more closely reflect what my mind’s eye wanted it to be.

One observer noted that I seem to “use the camera as a paintbrush”. That expression resonated with me since I’ve always wanted to be a classic oil painter but never really possessed that gift. The digital tools available to the photographer today allow anyone to create a psuedo-Monet if you aren’t concerned by what the art critics have to say. What is more important to me is simple: Does the final image I create cause me to smile, laugh or just make me think . . . and hopefully it will do the same to you too :-)
