I see we’re near neighbours sword; I’m a Blyth resident. You have a very distinctive style which is very appealing to me – and a friend of mine, Dave Edwards. There are certainly echoes of Lowry, but I think you’ve introduced more colour and blending to great advantage. I certainly like the North East element.

I agree with Brian about your style. I too have been compared to Lowry a few times. I like Lowry a lot.

Silly me – I meant to say also how good this picture is. I grew up in Blyth at a time when it was full of miners and shipyard workers. The rest of south Northumberland was the same. Your paintings capture the essence of those times. I remember when the coal truck came down our lane and the women had to rush to get in the washing off the lines so the truck could get past. Would you believe we didn’t even have electricity until I was twelve (long story) and had no hot water and an outside loo … sorry, for the benefit of the Aamericans on Redbubble I should have said “bathroom” :)) As well as producing brilliant paintings, Peter, you are also providing a record of an era that has disappeared.
