Well, I tried to think of some kind of deep, philosophical bio to introduce myself and my work and I’m just not into that. The truth is, I took photography in 4-H as a child and I won several awards and gold pins and letters of recommendation from Eastman Kodak. Not having supportive parents, I eventually dropped the ‘hobby’ and moved on in life. Four years ago, while visiting my son in Colorado over the Fourth of July, we were sitting on his porch at 13,500 feet. The little town of Komo was shooting fireworks right up in our faces so I grabbed my camera. With no tripod and it was getting dark, I used a slow shutter and hand held the camera, I decided to wiggle it around different ways and ‘Purple Rain’ in my gallery was one of the delightful results. When I saw how digital can be manipulated I was hooked. Got a better camera and here I am today.

My work doesn’t necessarily speak volumes of philosophical observations and is not intended to change the world. I may get to that point at some time in my life but for now, I shoot what I like. My intent is to bring pleasure and joy into the lives of others. Perhaps to capture that image they might have never seen or to bring that image a little closer to their eye so that they might enjoy more detail than before. In many cases, my intent is to present an image in a manner the viewer might never have even imagined. So if you look at my images and smile or even laugh; if you remember an image after you have left, I will consider myself successful and in any event, I always thank you for taking time out of your busy life to visit me and my efforts for a few minutes.

Remembering our past...

It has been said (but I forget by who) that those that do not remember the past are destined to forget it. I would like to introduce myself as David Dunham. I am a photographer, poet and artist. One of the things I like to photograph and also write about is the Civil War. I have mixed emotions about this war that had so many killed by their own countrymen, which ever way the bullets flew. While I…
