Kennack sands bay in Cornwall

Thought I would see if I could capture the feel of the tide approaching . Taken at dusk perched on rocks with the aid of a Benbo tripod with legs you can lock at any angle . The exposure was around 30 seconds at f16 using a Canon10D with a 17-34 Tamrom at 17 mm . I believe I achieved what I set out to do and find peace whenever I look at this picture . Its my screensaver at work and usually pops up just when needed and is without manipulation , as the camera recorded .

what kind of exposure is this and did you use a filter????

  • SWEEPER

    SWEEPER

Hi IGMC ….....no filter taken just after sunset approx 30 seconds at f16 for depth of field , sitting on a very sturdy Benbo tripod and fired using the self timer with the mirror lock up set to do so before shutter opens ( Canon presets ). Camera is a 10D with a 17-34 Tamron .There you go ….........try it !!

    very beautiful!
I once saw sumthing very similair to this years ago now in Photography monthly magazin.
I was wondering if that was you?
Did you use a blue filter here?

  • SWEEPER replied

Hi Joe…..fraid not ….only polarizer used , taken very late in evening with very long exposure . This what the camera produced , no human intervention . Glad you like it .

I love this. I am inspired, the only thing that worries me is my camera/lens getting soaked by the water’s rush.
    Any tips regarding this?
    Thanks

  • SWEEPER replied

Pick a relatively calm see where the water swirls around rather than breaking waves so no spray , medium length lens and a little elevation but if you must be close to the water look for one of the waterproof bags used on video cameras that attach via the filter thread on the lens using a clear filter . I think mine came from Jessops . Good luck and lets see the results !! Phil
