A photograph of St Catherines Lighthouse, Niton, Isle of Wight.
The Lighthouse stands on St Catherines Point, overlooking the English Channel, which is the southernmost part of the Isle of Wight UK. Sixty eight years ago
on the 1st of June 1943, the three lighthouse keepers were killed by enemy action, when a bomb from a German aircraft fell on the engine house where they were taking shelter during an air raid. Today a 68 year old Union Jack still adorns one of the walls, as a mark of remembrance, and respect.
