This is the Parish Church of Norton on Tees, which is the hometown of my longtime friend Michael Grieves, whose funeral I attended yesterday (1/7/2011).
He was well liked, and had a great sense of humor, and a will of iron. He refused all forms of treatment when he was diagnosed with cancer, resigning himself that if he had to die, he may as well get on with it, rather than linger on.
Although the funeral was a sad occasion, it was really great to see old friends once again, some of whom I hadn’t seen for over 30 years “Men that were boys when I was a boy” People attended from all over England, Scotland, the Isle of Wight, and one even came all the way from Bulgaria where he now lives.I’m sure Mick would have been pleased to know that we all turned up to pay our final respects. Goodbye Mick, you’ll be missed RIP.
