This is my little Parakeet Sophie, she is one of five.
She is and always has been the bottom of the pecking order in the
bird room! No matter who came in before her or after. That makes
me her protector.Shes a gentle soul, sits alone most time. Feathers
raggedy, she even stopped flying, until just recently.
Teaching the others to not pick on her has been a challenge for them
and me but day by day they include her more, abuse her less, care about
her more. When I got home one day recently she was off into the Living
room sitting on a stick of Pussywillows. I was very proud of her, she
hadnt been out in a long time. She sat under my chair while I ate breakfast
that morning. When I took this image of her later that day I couldnt help
but love this shot the best, its a game we play when I go into their room!

Sophie is adorable, as is this wonderful portrait and pose. Your story about her is touching. How do you teach the others not to pick on her? I’m glad your effors are working! She is unique looking. I have never seen a completely yelllow parakeet with dark tail feathers. At first glance, I thought she was a baby chick.
I went to the pet store and asked what I could do! They told me to set up a separate cage and call it the time out cage. And when one of the other birds are being mean to her or others give them a time out. Its amazing how well that works. One over night in the cage alone and they never pick again! Im happy for Sophie, shes finally happy too! Thank you Angie youre so sweet! I appreciate you more than I can say! Always!
