Haleakala Crater, Maui

Haleakala Crater, Maui

Afternoon at Haleakala Crater, captured while hiking down into the crater on an usually sunny day. To believe you are actually in Maui in the Hawaiian Islands when viewing this type of scenery is quite surreal.

Oh, Stephen!!! Look at these wonderful smooooooth mountains!!! And the clouds … it’s like we’re looking at a choppy ocean!!!! Or … is it the ocean??? LOL!!! Whatever .. it’s wonderfully done!!!!!!

Thanks Lois…at 10,000 feet you are way above the clouds here. The ocean is somewhere out there but who knows where…an interesting perspective on your part which I never thought about.
Also this location is frequently socked in with fog & clouds and it takes 2 hours to get here…but not this day. I actually got a series of decent shots ! You really must see it for yourself to believe it !

Aloha Sharon !!! Your comments are WONDERFUL and so true !!! This is one of my favorite places in the world and until you realize what a sight this is and what it means to native Hawaiians you really cannot appreciate it! I eagerly await my next visit, whenever that comes to be.

    Mahalo for the feature !
