This is a picture of our little sister that died at 38 years , 6 days before her 39 th birthday, she died of septicemia but she was born with liver problems and then while working as a nurse in an er she got hep c, she was finally told they could do a liver transplant after being turned down in PA , five years later she went to UAB and they figured out a way to hook up a new liver. she went home then got sick and they flew her back to UAB but, she became septic and every thing started shutting down befor they could do anything. She worked up untill 2 weeks before she died, she died on June 30 th 2000 her mother in laws birthday and she was buried on my birthday july 3 2000. She was the best nurse I have ever seen ! there is a scholorship that the doctors at he hospitals where she worked have set up and two nursing students get to go through the nursing program every year. She fought her whole life to live, when she was born babies with bliary atresia just died, but a young md told my parents to let him try something, that maybe it would help her live, if not she would die, they chose to let him try his surgery, he rerouted and put vessels in where there were none in her liver, it worked ! Later it was the reason PA gave for not being able to do a transplant, then UAB found they could hook up a new liver the same way, it almost happened but she became septic and they could not do any surgery until they could get her well. They gave it their best shot and I am forever grateful to them because she died with hope, the hope that she would live. She was a beautiful soul, the light always surrounded her and we all loved her.
