Think pink and a closer look at this rosy arrangement may have your nose twitching. One of these flowers has the most intense, rich, sweet-spicy fragrance of any that my nose knows. If you know Lilium speciosum rubrum AKA Rubrum lily, you know personally how powerful the memory of scent is. You just don’t forget this perfume. It’s a late- bloomer lily (August-September) and I walk well out of my way in the garden to enjoy it. Clearly, it’s a very beautiful flower, which I can also say about the others which share the garden and this toast together: Roses ‘Mutabilis’ and ‘Aloha’, Dahlia ’Jersey’s Beauty’ and Phlox ‘David’.
