An autumn bouquet, gathered at the tail end of the season before hard frost, blends the bits and pieces of a garden. In this case, the pickings were good: a small assortment of David Austin English roses (including ‘Jude the Obscure’ and ‘Emanuel’), a snippet of Rose ‘The Fairy’, a cluster of the plum-colored, German heirloom Rose ‘Excellenz von Schubert’, two fat buds from a rose called ‘Eden Rose’, an unknown clematis, assorted dahlias, a classic anemone, et.al. For me, the perfect touch was the metallic coloration of those beautiful autumn blueberry leaves.
