Manipulated photography. Manipulated in the Gimp Program.
I was trying to capture what Bristol Dockside may have looked like in the 16th Century. This is several photographs put together. The Matthew is based at Bristol Harbour. The Dockside pub, is actually St Johns Hunting Lodge at Axebridge. Look closely at the Pub sign, you may recognise it from another of my works ‘Her Guiding star’. The little house in the background is another of my favorite old buildings, the Old Toll House at Stanton Drew.
The harour wall is the original wall at Bristol docks where the SS Great Britain (now a Museum and well worth a visit) and The Matthew are docked, although I did add the cobbles for effect. The final part to this frame was adding a bump map filter over parts of the picture to give it a 3D effect.
