Regretful Sacrifice

I sit and ponder over a life,
full of deep desires and sacrifice.
In silent tears, I remember me,
and the life that was to be.

What happened to all my heart felt ambitions?
I hid from them and my intuition.
The cause was my own doing this I must say,
unaware of the turn in my path that dark day.

A black angel appeared to me in disguise,
spurting words of deep love, all were lies.
Consumed by the spell of this hellion’s lust,
I became engrossed, forgot who I was.
My innermost being gone astray,
my mind pushing it all away.

When the beast finished feasting upon my soul,
on the wings of time the years had flown.
No longer the person I should have been.
Unable to start over again.
I gave up myself to feed it’s desires.
Now I throw my life into hell’s fires.
