Cheated out of a possible win?
Please just read this with an open mind and do not see this as a complaint, rather as asking for your help and/or opinion on this matter

I really like to enter challenges. It is fun, a great way to see how other interpret the challenge and it is great to see a condensed gallery of stunning artwork in one go.
But it is also so very cool to actually win one, once in a while….. really cool. I actually have won 3 challenges so far….so it is a tough world out there! The art is stunning and worthy!
My joy was short lived as I had the same amount of votes as the winner and the system chose the other image maybe because it was submitted later than mine, or even earlier…. how would I know how the system choose a winner out of maybe 3 or four with the same amount of votes.
What I CAN say, is that I feel cheated by the system.
In the “real” world joined winners get joined rewards. But my greater concern is not this challenge that I missed out on winning…....what if this happens in our group that I co-host with Mariaan? Would the members not be very upset with us as hosts for not fixing this horrible happening? Would they not feel cheated and disgusted as the system might just not see that they were winners too? How do we as hosts explain such unfairness to them? Would they get upset and leave the group because they feel we are unfair?
Now, I did some research and there were complaints and RB did answer on 28 June 2009 that it is in the planning to be fixed. This complaint is rank 14th on the priority list. I want to make sure this moves down to #1 by voting for this to be fixed. If you strongly feel this needs to be fixed, would you please join me and vote here?
Do not worry if you run out on votes, Redbubble replenish them as soon as your 10 votes are finished
Thanx for reading and if you do vote on this, I thank you

I voted on this issue some time ago Susan .

Thanx Irene, glad you did

I agree with you Susan. Both winners should be shown and perhaps a new vote on the two winning images could play off or the prize shared.

The thing is Laureen, as a host you do not get to see how many votes others got for their images. No way to go and count them, nothing. You only see the winners amount at the end. BUT, you do see your own entry’s and the amount voted for it in your activity feed. As a host, like Pamela said a bit further on, you only know about this if it is mentioned by a disgruntled member. Must say, you have a nice solution if only we could see the joined winners as hosts. Thanx for taking part in the discussion. Luckily with ideas like this, if this happens in our group, we can sort it out!

1) RB has been working on it for some time. We’ll see what they come up with and when.
2) The entry that is the most recent to be entered into the challenge is deemed the winner in a draw.
3) RB does not replenish you votes when you reach 10. They give you back votes if something else you’ve voted on has it’s status changed to “planning” or “completed”.
Susan van Zyl replied
Thanx so much for the comment!
1) I saw that today, taking them a long time. Hope it can be sorted out, though.
2) Ah, see. I missed that somewhere. Now I will have to wait to enter the challenges nearly at the end of entry time! See, I am getting arrogant…..like I think I will win them all! ;
) Hope springs eternal ;)3) Thanx for that info. I thought it was replenished when you reached the last vote
Thanx so much for your input. I have learned a few things today. I just needed to know what to do if things like this happens in our group. I think we will be able to handle it if brought under our attention.
But it should not be the hosts responsibility to explain RB flaws or try to explain stuff that we ourself have no control over or know nothing about. If this did not happen to me, I would not have known about it.

I had this same problem in the Lakes Group – I chose to split the winners so the image that “won” I featured for a week and then the 2nd image that “won” I featured for the same length of time, made them both Featured Members, but I only did this because I was made aware of the situation.
It is a very flawed system I feel!
Susan van Zyl replied
Great idea, Pamela. This is the problem. Sometimes members do not mention it but just leave a group or think we cheated them as they can clearly see there are discrepancies. If not mentioned, we as hosts are oblivious about it. Must say Mariaan and me love working very hard in our little group and I would not be happy if one of our members are unhappy with us or maybe leave the group due to an unfixed problem we have no control over
Thanx for your input. So glad I posted this. Was a bit hesitant as I thought it might look like moaning or complaining or sour grapes for that matter! But I got helpful advice and info
Thanx again!

Yes…it happens to me all the time….I’ve been runner up about 6 or 7 times and had the same amount of votes as the winner. Its a very strange voting system. Lets hope RB can come up with something better :-)))
Susan van Zyl replied
So sorry about that Lyn! Wow! 6 or 7 times! And you are still smiling! No, this must be fixed the sooner the better. Challenges are about fun and bragging rights and top 10 is so special too, but the system is not making it easier for hosts if this stays unfixed
Thanx for sharing!

The problem with not seeing the votes as a host is that one has to take the objecting persons word as gospel as one cannot see any of the tallies, so seeing this would also help.
Susan van Zyl replied
Absolutely! Spot on! Did it happen in your group also Laureen? I think I will send out a group letter telling our group about this and give them the option to let us know if and when there was a tie, hoping that they will be honest about it. I like what the host of “Painted Ladies”: is doing. She gives both winners a winning banner and feature them for a week.
Well actually I just hope RB fix this, as hosts should not have to deal with stuff like this.

i will vote on this one.
