This was my favourite portrait that I did. I had a small piece of reference photo and had to paint it on a 60×40 canvas.

) I’ve tried portraiture – oils, acrylic, even digital, but it’s one of those things I really have to work at lol. I’m fascinated by it, drawn to it, but when I get down to it it’s tough :) I think part of the “cure” for me is remembering it’s just like anything else – shapes, colour – and not to get bogged down by worrying too much about the process.Susan van Zyl
I know what you mean, I love portraits, but I get soooo frustrated if it does not look like the original. This where I envy the free spirited creativeness of most of the artists here on RB. They just create and that is that! I would love to be more “loose” and am working on it at this stage. Like you said, not to get bogged down by worrying about the process – great advice that I will take for myself!!!!!!!
