Peter and Paul and all the rest
Most surely thought they had the best,
A corner on the souls of men,
These strangers in a savage land.
How wonderful they must have thought
With Jesus’ blood they had been bought!
Were they surprised when their souls leapt
Out of the flesh, up from the crypt,
To see Jesus so like they were?
They were in shock, of this I’m sure!
All of the sermons they had preached,
The many peoples they had reached,
So many sacrifices they had made,
While trusting in the words he said.
Seeing the world with vacant eyes
Afraid to feel lest there be lies.
I have to say that they lost time
To teach the truth of life, sublime,
Of how each soul, eternal born
Will never from the flow be scorned.
I know they did what they thought best,
To leave behind their lives with zest,
In fervor serve the unknown god,
Forsaking all upon this sod.
Just think of all they could have done
Had they decided not to run
From knowledge, sweet and tender, kind.
It’s easy now for you to find.
The path of gold which leads to heaven
Which to each soul is brightly given.
Immortal essence of our lives
Glows on forever, free from strife.
One day we’ll see the House of God,
When we emerge from fleshly pods.
Awake now, it’s a bright new day!
Just follow us, we know the way!
