I’m posting in the hope that I will brighten your day just a little bit. I’m not a good photographer, I’m just someone who wants to bring a little joy.
What a great macro!! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a spider that looked like that, cool!
Thanks, OC. Rase was here the other day scouring the garden for any neat bugs to photograph. I found this one the day after he left! I haven’t ever seen a spider like this, and he’s still ‘living’ on that same sunflower….I just checked this morning.

Perfect shot and focus.! poor bee.
I know, right?!? And since this photo, he’s captured another bee! He doesn’t build a spiderweb like most spiders—he must just grab the bees as them come for nectar!!
OH MY Goodness, what a terriffic shot Susan, a real natural history quality shot here.a favorite
Thank you, Malcolm!! I was so surprised to see this one, and he’s still in the garden, still on that same sunflower!!
striking macro capture
Thank you so much!
Absolutely marvellous capture of this wee crab spider in action, Susan! Great macro work!
So that’s what it is!!! I’m such a (don’t) know it all!!!!
WOW!! What a excellent close up capture, Susan!!
Thanks, Carol…..almost too close for me!~! LOL
Wonderful macro capture Susan, I hope it;s not one of your bee’s!
Thanks, Ray! This one was gone within about 10 minutes, but when I checked this morning, he had already captured another one! Perhaps if it’s still there, I’ll steal it!! LOL
enough for leftovers…..;lol
Oh EWWWWW!!!!!! LOL
Great catch Susan !The Crab or Flower Spiders sit with four front legs raised, poised waiting to catch any unwary prey.
Thanks, Trish. I understand the official name is Goldenrod Crab Spider (I just happened to see a shot that someone else posted of the same spider, which I had never seen before until I shot this photo!!). I wondered how it caught the prey, because there was no web!!
Just beautiful! Great capture!
Thank you so much! I don’t like spiders at all, so it’s a big issue just to get this close! LOL
