Living in the Arizona desert of the Southwest, you will see that color is how people off set the muted colors of the desert. The color of their homes, the flowers and bushes planted and even the furniture on the outside verandas and patios all have a character that lend an interesting accents to desert living.
This painting is dedicated to the beautiful colors we find in all aspects of living in the desert.

I enjoy a full time career as a working Fine Art Artist and Natural Lifestyle Photographer.
To me, my art and photography is the best way to express what I see around me.
I also teach both mediums and I host 3 and 4 day Art and Photography Workshop Retreats through my private studio on my desert property in Nevada/Arizona.
I formed Elbow Canyon Fine Art & Photography Retreats several years ago to offer my students a unique one-on-one instruction.

So realistic it could be a photo that someone has tried to make look like a painting, however I know the truth, Excellent MT

  • This started out as something totally different and after I fought with it for a few days I just let the painting show me where it wanted to go… it was a good experience to step out of my comfort zone! Thanks MT1!

    Great work…it’s a beautiful life-like image!

  • Thanks Sandra… it was a struggle for awhile to retain the realism, but it finally worked out!

Amazing textures Susan and so very well played against each other. Beautiful work.

  • It was a departure from my comfort zone! I preach to my students all the time to press the limits and explore other tecniques, so I have to do the same… kind of puts everyone on notice that I want to see “out of comfort zone” work! LOL! Thanks Jim.
