The rainbow of colors …is what drew me down this avenue reconstructed of old time downtown New York.
The themed resorts of the strip can take you through the romantic canals of Venice and then over to the eclectic, ethnic old streets of 1930’s New York.
This is another capture from a portion of the walking tour of the Photography Retreat I held last weekend.

Thanks for viewing my photography.
My Fine Art and Photograph Studio…featuring 2 and 3 day Retreats in both creative areas, is located in the eastern Desert of Nevada/Arizona.

I enjoy a full time career as a working Fine Art Artist and Natural Lifestyle Photographer.
To me, my art and photography is the best way to express what I see around me.
I also teach both mediums and I host 3 and 4 day Art and Photography Workshop Retreats through my private studio on my desert property in Nevada/Arizona.
I formed Elbow Canyon Fine Art & Photography Retreats several years ago to offer my students a unique one-on-one instruction.
Thanks for viewing my work

Excellent POV and Colors Susan!!! So much to see here. A retreat is an awesome idea, may some of us New Mexicans can get something going here! Have a wonderful weekend my friend!!! peace and love, syl

  • Yes, Retreats are very enjoyable for me…I started holding them a few years ago…it is a way a person can have a vacation in a place where they just don’t quite know how to get around the illusion and come to the desert in a protected environment. I have 2 and 3 day Retreats. It has become a fun retirement source of fun and income!
    Thanks Sylvia!

Wow, this is so cool ! I’m going home to Vegas in September and will be
shooting like crazy…. I love how you put it… " how to get around the illusion and come to the desert in a protected environment" Well said ;o)
(how I’d love to join one of your retreats!)

  • Yes it would be just tooo cool! I have 2 and 3 day retreats…it is a package deal, I have a guest house/studio where you stay, I provide goodies for a continental breakfast each morning you are there, you are in control of your other meals…we start in Vegas if you fly or in Mesquite and plan a day in Vegas if you drive in.
I know you have heard this a hundred times as I share my retreats and the results with all of you but it is a very fun way to visit the desert and navigate the Illusion…LOL…down in Vegas. Let me know if you want to sign up for one…they are one-on-one so you would have my undivided attention! hehe! Thanks Shilo!

How fun one of your retreats would be!! You should have one of your retreats at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah! It would be great for all…the area where they are located is breathtakingly beautiful plus all the amazing animals they have at the Sanctuary. Although…..Las Vegas does have its appeal too! LOL! Love the photos you’re showing of your retreat!

  • Yes I have been to Best Friends…that is where we took Lil’ Bit AKA Skinny (the white Chihuahua we rescued) for evaluation…was told by 3 vets to have him put down because of his aggressivness but I knew the folks at BF would be honest with me…we spent the day and they helped a great deal with putting him through rehab and how we could master the aggressiveness…you’re right it would be an awesome place to spend the day and the town isn’t too far away to break for lunch and rest a bit…will have to keep it in mind! Thanks Barb!

Great image, Susan. I admire your artistic eye. However, I think different on all that. I’ve been numerous times in the Sin City for different businesses. Guess how many pictures I’ve made in Vegas? Remember I adore NV. The answer is no any single shot, except taking a few shots of my pals using their cameras as they begged for that. Yes, quite many shots of art objects in art galleries, but that’s not about Vegas. I think Vegas is a paradise for doing business and also taking pictures of the people, but I’m a nature geek. Regarding that fake architecture used as a lure by casinos. For example, I’ve been in Venice, Italy and the Venetian on the Strip (even attended an exhibition there). What is the difference? You well said in your reply to Lyssa above: “so much eye candy in Vegas”. The true Venice is a real food. So eye candy versus real food. That is the difference, I think. I’m talking about spiritual things. Las Vegas will never feed my soul. But that’s my personal opinion and that nohow debases your beautiful work, Susan. Moreover, sometimes many of us love to be “cheated” in that way. :)

  • I too have been in the real places but that is not always at hand when you are trying to keep the artist eye in tune and have people who have never been to Vegas and really are quite overwhelmed and scared to venture into the illusion.
I have been doing these retreats for several years now and always come away after enjoying seeing this place through new comer’s eyes… just go down the strip with someone who has never been…it is hilarious to watch the Alice in Wonderland, down the rabbit hole take over…
I hope to return to the real places at some time but this will have to do for now…and as far as taking my soul…I am to much grounded in realism that it is just a play ground to me. I can get in my car and drive back out into the desert and live…Thanks Arvy…this is what RB is all about, getting a dialogue if ideas and thoughts going!
