Another painting from years ago …still compiling work that I have re-found.
This piece is an oil painting, painted on gallery wrapped canvas and is 16" X 20" in unframed size.

Thanks for viewing my art.
My fine art and photography studio is located in the Nevada/Arizona desert.

I enjoy a full time career as a working Fine Art Artist and Natural Lifestyle Photographer.
To me, my art and photography is the best way to express what I see around me.
I also teach both mediums and I host 3 and 4 day Art and Photography Workshop Retreats through my private studio on my desert property in Nevada/Arizona.
I formed Elbow Canyon Fine Art & Photography Retreats several years ago to offer my students a unique one-on-one instruction.
Thanks for viewing my work

WOW your palate choice is SPOT ON…it gave you the control of the outcome. This what I call a ‘Mastery Sneak’ (NOT as in short cut)…. what Im talking about is if you took 5 artist let them paint the same scene an hold it up next to yours…their’s wouldn’t be anymore or less real or 3D…it’d be the time frame you grabbed….there’s certain moments during the sun’s movements that escape us…it isn’t daily either. CONGRATULATIONS SUSAN !
I’ve taken many of your pieces with me an when you mentioned last time you were ‘digging’ out some older work I knew I’d be in for Savory Treats!

  • Thanks Lyssa..such a wonderful personal insight to this piece…still not sure what the “Mastery Sneak” means…hope it’s good!…LOL
I appreciate comments like this that shows the viewer has taken the time to look! Thanks again…

Im sorry Susan I didn’t define my ‘own’ term better…what it means is YOUR the Artists’ Artist…out of the 5 from my example your mastery would OUT-SHINE them BUT your color combo/palate could leave even a talented painter wondering what you did different….I’ve seen it an been amongst professionals ‘yakin’ up their theories…its not always done with color either…when I have a chance I’ll grab an example or two.

This piece certainly confirms that your amazing talent isn’t a new found one. lol It’s really well done Susan. Love it.

  • Thanks my friend…it is interesting thought when I look at old pieces how much my art has changed and then some elements are still the same…I was much more of a perfectionest back then!!

Very skillful detailed work; a beautiful western scene. :)

  • Thanks Sharon…I unpacked a crate from long ago storage and found a treasure trove! I told Ryan my son that he was going to have quite the inheritence when his mom was gone!!
