I enjoy a full time career as a working Fine Art Artist and Natural Lifestyle Photographer.
To me, my art and photography is the best way to express what I see around me.
I also teach both mediums and I host 3 and 4 day Art and Photography Workshop Retreats through my private studio on my desert property in Nevada/Arizona.
I formed Elbow Canyon Fine Art & Photography Retreats several years ago to offer my students a unique one-on-one instruction.
Thanks for viewing my work

Is it just me or is this a kind of new direction in your work? This is one, drop dead gorgeous image. The porcelain (or is it metal?), the wood – such fabulous textures – and the colors – magnificent. It couldn’t have been easy to capture those reflections on the vessels. I see restraint, an eye for fantastic composition, and color. A tour de force Susan!

  • No…I didn’t see it as a new direction in my work…I just found a gold mine FULL of still life in this old museum and the light was perfect (I never ever use flash) …and as I may have stated in previous conversations, I take pictures when I see a painting. I saw almost a whole memory chip of paintings at this little Utah place…it was RICH my friend, RICH with eye candy for the photographer…I will be onto something else when it presents itself…LOL

That bright green is great. You are so good at finding something simple and making it into a wondeful eye-catching image. Love this one too, Susan.

  • Thanks Carol…When I get your call that you and your husband are coming to see me (us)…this is one of the places you and I have to go visit!!!

I like this and the only thing I might have done different was to add the rest of the pitcher on the right. Good job!

  • Thanks BigD…I guess i would call this a right-brain shot…we all know what a handle looks like and I thought the angled line of the ceiling balanced it out…intresting though how we all see things different…

It’s like a flower composition. I have been told not to cut out any of the petals when shooting a whole flower.

  • I guess I look at some of my flower shots and the ones I like the best are the abstract captures…but I guess that is up to individual taste…I have heard that too about not cutting off any of the petals…but I have never been one who liked rules, do’s and don’t’s and the like…I’ll follow along to a point, then the artist comes out and I am no longer responsible..hehe…thanks BigD…I wish more dialogs would open up on approach and presentation between all of us…
