The Women of the West always seem to have more of a story then the gentlemen cowboys… I guess it is because it takes a special lady to put aside the dresses and finery and take up the life of riding a horse and living sometimes a rough life.
Today’s Cowgirls however, have figured out how to have the best of both worlds. I hold true in the feeling that every time I am around a true Cowgirl of the West, there is a special element to these ladies that allows this female lifestyle endure.

Cowgirl Blues is an original Pastel, Prismacolor Pencil and Pen and Ink drawing.
Drawn on bonded. card stock, acid free artist drawing paper.
12"X12" in unframed size.

I enjoy a full time career as a working Fine Art Artist and Natural Lifestyle Photographer.
To me, my art and photography is the best way to express what I see around me.
I also teach both mediums and I host 3 and 4 day Art and Photography Workshop Retreats through my private studio on my desert property in Nevada/Arizona.
I formed Elbow Canyon Fine Art & Photography Retreats several years ago to offer my students a unique one-on-one instruction.

this really wonderful work, Susan. I don’t usually look at paintings but I really do enjoy your work. Something about the colors and the backgrounds in your work.

Thanks Luke…I love working with pastel and prismacolor pencils…and I use a solid color artist paper so I don’t have to anguish over the background…my main subject stays my main subject…just a quirk of mine.
