On our last trip to South Africa, we made sure to spend the day at the White Lion Compound/Rescue Center outside of Jonannesburg, South Africa.
This Sanctuary was founded to protect 6 Prides of the rare White Lion.

You are allowed into the personal habitat when you get to the Cub Compound. This is where all the cubs spend their day to help educate the public. They are returned to their family prides in the evenings and envronment of almost being in the wild…but not quite.

I entered the habitat, sat down in a pile of cubs, turned my camera on and thought I’d died and gone to Heaven!

You can see the entire album of this experience on my Facebook page.

I enjoy a full time career as a working Fine Art Artist and Natural Lifestyle Photographer.
To me, my art and photography is the best way to express what I see around me.
I also teach both mediums and I host 3 and 4 day Art and Photography Workshop Retreats through my private studio on my desert property in Nevada/Arizona.
I formed Elbow Canyon Fine Art & Photography Retreats several years ago to offer my students a unique one-on-one instruction.

Wow Susan, what a capture, I just love the patterns around their eyes, real beauties.

  • Thanks Jim…it was quite the experience… you can stay with the cubs for quite a long time and when they wake up from their naps it is a sight to behold! Needless to say I stayed until they kicked me out! LOL!
