Lil' Bit And His Blankie
You might have the burning questioin as to what does a dog do on it’s day off?...well when your are a rescued little guy you find your favorite spot and fuzzy blanket and drift into an uninterupted nap.
Taking these stray, abanded, abused animals in has it’s moments when you realize to the fullest extent just how much you change an animal’s life as they get further and further from the fear and just learn to be a happy and content dog again.
Lil’ Bit still has some mildly assertive survival issues… but they are quickly fading as he adjusts and gains confidence that he has food to eat and a place to sleep.
He is quickly turning into a delightful, comical little taco-dog!!!

Susan Bergstrom replied
LOL…they are really something…didn’t know if he was ever going to settle down and trust..we figured he must have been trying to survive in the desert for weeks…there no one close that we know of that had a dog like this…he was so starved and dehydrated it was truly a miracle he made it to our front porch…
Shannon Donovan
The powers that be, have special wings for people like you my friend! Makes my heart swell just watching him sleep peacefully! Well done! xoxo
Susan Bergstrom replied

Great capture…glad he is doing so well:)
Susan Bergstrom replied
It was iffy for awhile…he was pretty aggressive and a mouth of really pointy teeth! But just consistant routine and joining in with the pack he seems to have turned a corner…Thanks Vanessa….
Jim Phillips
He’s a cutie. I understand about the adjustment. Barb and I after the loss of our 20 year old Bichon thought it would be a while before we got another dog. Well last week we added a 1 year old Scottie to our household. He really filled a gap that was left in our lives that we ourselves didn’t completely realize was so empty, til he came into the picture.
Susan Bergstrom replied
Awesome Jim…I am glad you found or a little buddy found you…as they say! ...and yes it just takes time and patience to help them re-adjust and learn to trust again. So glad to hear that you have a little guy to care for…they are good for the soul…
Jan Landers
touch my heart this does, susan….as do you….you and your generous spirit and love for all beings…this little one is so blessed to have you…..i love this shot….feeling the love….
Susan Bergstrom replied
Thanks my friend…he was such a frightened, angry little guy…I thought he as past redemption for awhile but we turned a corner a week or so ago and he has lost a great deal of his survival aggression and fear. I can only imagine what it was like for such a little guy to survive the hawks, coyotes and other packs of dogs out here…he finally seems to be entering an attitude of peace…
JenLand
Absolutely precious and sweet!! he is a very lucky little fellow to have found himself a forever home with you! :o)
Susan Bergstrom replied

I can not find the words here to describe what you have done for all these sweet and lost animals…you have just given them their lives back again
God bless you!
Susan Bergstrom replied
Thanks Julia…it is a sad situation here in the desert…I see abandonded animals every week but they are to traumatized to come close…Chula and Lil’ Bit must have been young enough to get past the fear and take the chance… they both are a fun addition to the Pack here at Elbow Canyon Estates…
