Larry,Curlie and Moe- Detail Study

“Larry, Curlie and Moe- Detail Study” (Moe is on the side bar)...is a signed, original, pastel and prismacolor pencil drawing.
Drawn on Bienfang, medium tooth, acid free artist drawing paper.
All of my drawings are sprayed with a final professional artist protective fixitive.

The romance of the West, Southwest and the Horse is a subject I always return to. I live both in Colorado and in Nevada, so I have an endless supply of personal photography that I draw from for these drawings. I personally developed this sharp focus pastel and prismacolor pencil technique to make my drawings come alive.
My Fine Art and Photography Studio is located in Mesquite, Nevada.
Thank you for viewing my art.

I like the bold strokes of pastel in your work. Strong.

  • Susan Bergstrom replied

Yes you can get pretty aggressive with pastel and then the dust does fly!!! Thanks Helen for viewing…did you go to any tea parties today???

Another excellent digital study, I like the original best on this one.

  • Susan Bergstrom replied

Me too…but the up close photos tend to darken the artwork but I felt it was better anyway for the people who are using for study..you would not believe the b-mails I get from people who are using them for study and not just my students!

wonderful painting! How do you make a digital image of a painting? Since I’m not a painter, I’ve been wondering that.

  • Susan Bergstrom replied

...I just take a picture of the painting or drawing with my digital camera…download into my edit program and then onto RB. Have to be aware of light and shadow while taking the picture…so I use a pink light bulb in my light over the artwork and it evens out any ambient light, or I just wait until evening to take the pictures of my paintings and drawings..Thanks for asking! ... and thanks for viewing!
