Lone Star-Detail Study

Lone Star-Detail Study

“Lone Star-Detail Study” is another one in my “Native American Woman Series”, an original oil and acrylic mixed media painting and another detail up close study for my art students and for you, my watchers and support group here at RB.
Lone Star is my personal favorite…She hangs in our home and she inspires me everytime I look at her…I also ask myself somedays…how did I do that!!!?
That is when I have to go back to the basics myself and remember line, shape and form and have an enlarged photograph of my step daughter Bonnie around so I can capture the pure female essense.

This detail study is to help my students have a closer view of some of my fine art…for the purpose of the study on blending, line and color.
My Fine Art and Photography Studio is located in Mesquite, Nevada.
Thank You for viewing my art.

wow love it Susan…maybe next one I do should in colour,, larger and with a different medium – pastels were a bit tricky for me when doing the face as it was not a large portrait either (maybe it was the thought in my head saying the smaller it is the harder it would be for people to see my mistakes ) :-D …..

  • Susan Bergstrom replied

Get your self some Prismacolor Pencils…the creamy (sort of) kind…not the “veri-thin”...these pencils are what my Pastel/Colorpencil drawings are a majority of….I use pastels for icing on the cake sometimes and for different texture, but primarily my drawings are Color Pencil. To tell you the truth, I always start with the word Pastel in my mediums because color pencils are very under rated and in some circles not looked upon as fine art…Anyway…put the pastels aside for a bit and try the color pencils and you can even erase! (gently)....let me know or b-mail me if you have more questions…

  • Susan Bergstrom replied

Well thanks so much…I wish you were too…We have too much fun! One of my students decided to paint a huge painting on a masonite board…It took the two of us three days to paint it! I suggest a technique for a certain area then hand them the brush..
