I was inspired every morning when we recited Our Allegiance.
Not so much for the religious connotation but the sense of unity among us.
It truly helped me become the person I am. Indivisibly Just and joyfully FREE
Our country has gotten so diversified now, I think a revised version is in order and should be brought back for our youth.

    Awesome post!

  • Susan Bergstrom replied

I agree with everything you just said…except for the revision part…the words still bring a lump to my throat every time I read them and I think most people have forgotten the pledge…just watch Leno some night when he interviews the people on the street…3 out of 5 people could not recite the Pledge…makes you wonder…thanks for viewing and I appreciate your comment

    Oh so patriotic!!! Perfect.

  • Susan Bergstrom replied

Thanks Carol…it was for a challenge on Love of God and Country…but it still brings a great feeling when you say it!

Well in order to include all of the peoples of the wide variety of religions and secular followings, it must be revised.
This version is exclusive to, to many to have a unified meaning…
Sure I am a Christian and this is a preferred pledge for me and many others. But to have true harmony and “Unity” an Oath of Alligience without reference to religion (I feel) would be more beneficial to bringing us together as a whole again. One that everyone could recite in the mornings at school as they look around at their classmates and accept each other for who they are and not by the Book or God that they follow.

    ...;-)

  • Susan Bergstrom replied

I salute your valid point…I’m just an old gal out in one of the deserts of this great country and I suppose I live to much in my memories of standing before school started and feeling the unity and being a part of the whole…I wonder if we will see the day that a revised pledge will appear…something is better then nothing…??? Thanks again…

Excellent way to picture the flag in its folds, well placed and chosen text.

  • Susan Bergstrom replied

Thanks Byron…this what I had created for a challenge on love of God and country…but it was the greatest feeling designing it and looking up the history of the pledge…
