Desert Tempest

Susan Bergstrom

Desert Tempest

Original oil and acrylic painting.

When I first moved to the desert of Nevada, I had a hard time changing my colors to fit the hot, dry, red, oranges, yellows and all the colors that were not part of my paintings while I lived in Colorado for so many years.
I found this artist in a magazine, that expressed just what I wanted to learn so I taped a picture of that style of work up in my studio and the rest they say is history.
I wish I could remember the artist, but their work helped me so much in seeing the colors in my new home…this in one of the results of the study.
Thank You for viewing my art.

I done likewise Susan, and it’s a fine way to learn. This work has a strong graphic element to it, but is a beautiful work. It’s very much like the older pieces I just posted. They’re OK but one can see pretty plainly how I have progressed as an artist.

  • Susan Bergstrom replied

Oh I hear you there…usually I just take my camera out and try and capture what I want in my work but when I first moved here, I could not get the greens, blues and white of Colorado out of my head, no matter how many times I would go out and try to bond with the colors of the desert!

  • Susan Bergstrom replied

I could not believe how hard it was to get the cool colors out of my head from Colorado…after living there for over 30 years I guess it was going to take some time!
Did I ever send you my personal email so you could email me a picture of your grand baby for the little people portrait?...The one you posted today with the Pink Hat!!!
