“Wrapped In Tradition” is an original and signed oil and acrylic painting.
Painted on gallery wrapped canvas.

“Wrapped In Tradition” is another addition to my “Native American Woman Series”. Growing up near the Rosebud Reservation north of Valentine, Nebraska, made a great impression on me as a child. Now as an adult and an artist, I am able to revive my memories and include my artistic creative process in representing this culture.

My studio is located in Mesquite, Nevada where I create my art, work on commissioned pieces and teach private students.

Although I portray these Native American Women in somewhat of a fantasy, I still try and bring across an attitude,a mood and a dignity….As you will see most of the women I paint, I strive to evoke the above mentioned.

Well that does it…you ARE my new best friend!!! LOL…thanks so much Barbara…when it was my turn to pick the shot of the week, I kept being drawn to your captures to choose… but with you being the avatar I didn’t know if that would be kosher…everyone that caught my eye was YOURS!!! So I picked one that was on the last page by a lady from South Africa, a transplant to the Southwest and it is just a blanket over a wooden Navajo ladder…It just spoke of the Southwest to me…since I couldn’t pick one of yours!!! LOL

I find that most of the Native American Women I paint or draw have this stoic expression..having grown up around the Native Am. people and now near them where I live here in the desert…they seem to still have that sad look. Thanks for viewing and I appreciate your comment!
