I wonder do great artist face obstacles ?

I as a artist do not work with live models, I draw my figure from both my imagination and photos. And every painting I have ever done, has one part in it that will ground my painting on the rock, and I can’t go any further until that part of the paint is over come. It truly frustrate the hell out of me, makes me feel like I should quit painting and may be take up a new hobby, like basket weaving. I always wonder do other artist run into the same problem, or does it mean I really don’t posses the talent of art.

Oh yes, every painter comes across this. My advice is to walk away from the painting and just look at it. Write down the thoughts that occur to you that may change it but don’t pick up a brush again until you are sure you’re ready.
Sometimes even turning your canvas upside down would help. It’s hard to see the whole picture when you get to close to it.
