Ancient Sadness
It seems to rise from deep within us….
yet maybe even beyond us….
a sadness that defies our understanding
or our very will,
a sadness that comes from a place outside of our own existence…
that engulfs us indomitably.
We who walk the Earth so gently,
know that this connection,
stronger than the gravity that holds us to her,
brings with it the knowledge of her pain
and the infinite lifetimes of sorrow.
Is this the source of our unknown sadness?
This ancient wellspring from within the heart of the Earth…
wells up and breaks forth, flowing through us,
the tears of eternity, the pain of the ancient ones,
a sadness that knows no bounds,
to be set free through us, through our hearts and eyes,
and opening us to receive the flow of awareness,
healing and a renewed potential for life.

I’d like to think my sadness, when it overwhelms me at times, is part of this collective conscience, some eternal ache of all mankind for the error of our ways, the wounds we’ve inflicted on the Earth itself, rather than some self-centered indulgence. It makes the suffering more palatable in some ways. Stunning and provocative image and words so meaningful they will resonate for a very long time.
Wendy Slee replied
Lianne, I have to say there are so many times in my life, that I felt the rising up of something so powerful and deep it was as if it came from the Earth herself….and was channelled through me. It was this feeling that inspired this creation, as I tried to understand where such sorrow could come from when on the surface all was well….
I must add that at times I get overwhelming joy from “beyond” as well, so it works both ways….
Sean Farragher
fantastic
Wendy Slee replied

You need to seriously think about publishing your writings and your images….
Wendy Slee replied
you are so kind! I actually have published a book through blurb.com, a large format glossy, coffee table book – it was so stunning and so many people have lined up to buy a copy from me, but alas – the price with shipping and the changeover from the US$ to ours, just made it totally impractical….each book was costing me well over $100 each (these days, nearly $150), so there was no way i could sell for that plus add a little more for myself on top. SO, I am currently seeking a publisher or agent…..who might “want me” LOL…..If you have any ideas, I would love to know….....
And thank you for your kind words…have had a bit of a downer lately on my art…... too many negatives and not enough positives, and sometimes it gets me down….but then I receive wonderful affirmations from people I believe in, such as yourself, and it puts me right back where I need to be.
studiofascino

sometimes it is our close bond to her that allows us to pick up her own sadness…...Your comment is very thoughtful and your own connections to our beautiful Earth are evident….. thank you so much…....

Lea Williams
This is sooooo beautiful, sad, loving, full of “knowing”. You are able to reach deep within your heat to release what needs to be shared with those who are in need of their own “release”. Truly beautiful. :-)
Wendy Slee replied
I only just discovered your beautiful, sensitive comment…..thank you so much Lea…xx
linaji
Thank you Wendy..for adding this to our group and so that I could feel your immense capacity for feeling the process of our lives.. that through all the contrast.. and the pain.. there comes the revelations of desire and
a sadness that knows no bounds,
to be set free through us, through our hearts and eyes,
and opening us to receive the flow of awareness,
healing and a renewed potential for life
Wow and wow.. xoxox
Wendy Slee replied
aww…thanks dear Lina….... it is an older piece of work but still reflects how I feel sometimes…... glad it meant something to you.
xx
