Cronulla Lightning Bolt by David Haworth
Clear

Canon 5D3 and Canon 16-35L ND9 Filter F22 and 100ISO series of two second exposures with the remote lock down scored me my first lightning shot.Woke up at 3pm ( nana nap ) and word on FB was that storms were warned for Sydney..checked the radar and this was 20 mins away so hi tailed it to the Cronulla peninsular! Looking across th Port Hacking River to Bundeena and the Royal National Park

Rather take photos and do most other things. I travel Australia for work and get more opportunities than most Sydney siders to see beautiful parts of Australia

Brilliantly captured. How do you know where and when the lightening will strike. It happens so fast.

  • Impossible to pick or get lucky. What you do ( If you don’t have a fancy lightning trigger sensor ) is put a dark filter on and stop down till you get a 1.6 or 2 second exposure….. then set the cam to multi shot and lock down the shutter remote button… Cam continuously takes photos…. I took 435 to get 3 usuable lighting shots but it wasn’t a very active storm electrically.
