Raging Dawn

Raging Dawn

After 3-4 days of wet cold weather , me and Malcolm Katon headed off at 3.45am to Kiama to shoot at the Bombo headland at the site known as the Boneyard. Its an old quarry that we have both posted shots from before.
The weather gods were fairly kind and we had a partly cloudy morning with no wind, no rain and a tinge of orange here and there. Its funny when we go shooting together, we don’t see that much of each other. Especially at this location which is fairly vast in photo terms. He does his thing and I find my thing
We were amazed to find a huge swell crashing waves onto locations we had stood in previously. And this was at LOW tide!
Some waves were making it over the top of the highest rock formations…. we should have stuck around till 2pm and high tide!
Simple shooting…. two RAW exposures combined. Levels and sharpening only. First exposure was F7.1 and 46 seconds ISO 50, second for the sky was the same but 5 seconds .Canon 5D with Canon 16-35 L zoom at 16mm. No filters needed as it was dark!

I often wonder if some of your shots are of Cathedral Rock David? I’ve got one and looking through your images I thought I recognized it but you have a body of still water in a place I didn’t think possible! see mine here http://www.redbubble.com/people/follicle/art/3409891-3-cathedral-rocks-kiama
