When I'm Not Painting
...I’m sewing. Awhile ago a friend inspired me to begin making dolls. I wrote about this another time but I wanted to give a few more comments.
It seems my doll making has taken off and takes up a considerable amount of my time now. I’ve been able to make “inner child” dolls for several individuals in psychotherapy as well as donate dolls and other craft items to the YES Center. Children put in protective custody go to the YES Center just before being placed in foster care. Each child is given a toy or stuffed animal of their choice before they leave. I have been privileged to donate items to these children.
In addition to outreach projects and individual orders I’ve discovered I love doll making, not as much as painting but man I’m lovin’ this. It’s been an unexpected but very welcome and fulfilling blessing that I hope continues for a long time.
