Eyes Like A River

http://www.sundrip.com/2008/08/09/eyes-like-a-river/

This is my very first completed oil painting. Until about a month ago I’d never used oils before. Sadly I was under the impression that oil was all hype. Boy have I seen the light. I think I’m in love.

This is a scan of the original painting which is done on 1/4 inch think birchwood measuring 9 inches wide and 11 inches long. One of the details you are unable to see clearly is the gold accents above her eyes and on her lips.

I adore this piece and like how you weave the colours together and able to make a face out of it. Would love to see of this :)
Wish I could use oil and acrylic…

It’s cool – reminds me of my “In Aura” painting but yours is more interesting and edgy. You got me thinking about oils… I keep wanting to try them… its the fumes, the turps… ah, not sure, but I know once I start I’ll be hooked. Maybe a lesson or 3 to figure out some of the little tricks. Very inspiring thank you!
