Forgiveness
At first glance a young man concluded this painting was about a mother forgiving her young prodigal daughter. I didn’t correct him.
This painting shows an older woman embracing her younger self and offering forgiveness for past mistakes and failings. The young self kneels before the older woman and asks for nothing other than a place to lay her head. The older woman who has grown physically and spiritually knows the younger self was caught up in the spring of youth and needs what we all need, a place to rest our transgressions. In the lap of experience the young one is allowed to rest.
I look at this painting with high hopes of self forgiveness.

once again Magdalene your work just moves right into my body – this’ beautiful and soulful – and with the light coming accross like that and the woman’s face situated as it is i also feel a sense of longing in her which when i read your explanation just now started to make sense but yes for me you create storyies through your art work but not only one story there seems to linger others amongst it – if ya know what i mean. thankyou. xx

Superb! Love your description – in some ways your intent is more meaningful than a parent/child. Though this could also represent God/His children which would be a powerful interpretation also! All interpretations are wonderful, no matter how you look at it : )

what an amazing insight you have produced here..
the forgivness of ones self is a journey we must all take at some stage in our lives, to be able to accend to our next sage of being..
if we cannot forgive ourselves for mistakes made we become stagnate.
such a lovely image to compliment this insight …

This is one of the most poignant pieces of art I have seen. Forgiveness is so much misunderstood, I think. It has as much effect on the forgiver as on the forgiven. So you can only win here. Blessings. :0) Song

Hi Faith,
Congrats on your feature as well. I love the words that go along with this image. After I read them I went back to the image and then I read the words again. They fit together so well. I like that the faces are just impressions with no features, makes for more hidden mystery and draws me in for a closer look. And the way the young one “merges” into the older one. You have a gift of using the medium in such an expressive way. I also love the rays of light shining from the left, symbolic of the spiritual light that is always there for us. Your work is very emotional and full of feeling and I can feel that in my own heart.
