Dundurn Castle_1

!

This was the residence of Canada’s first Prime Minister Sir Allan MacNab and just recently visited by Prince Charles and Camilla on Nov. 5th 2009. The castle was built by Camilla’s great, great, great grandfather in 1835. In the early 1960s the city of Hamilton had the castle restored to the year 1855. As an extra little nugget of information, the castle is reputed to be haunted. A Nikon D50 with an 18-55mm DX lens captured the image of Hamilton’s Dundurn Castle.

A hearty thanks Larry for your generous compliments and the fave. Always appreciated buddy. I may add some more info in a day or so. It’s just that it was late when I posted these pics and was just concerned on providing the gist of it. Best wishes, Ron

I do like both, but I think I prefer the black and white for some reason.

  • sundawg7 replied 20 days ago

Thank you so much Lynda. The B&W may appeal to you more because of the era its from. Perhaps Sepia might work also for that reason. Hope all is well with you dear. Hugs & XX, Ron

Nice job, Ron – Dundurn (yes, that’s with an ‘r’ & an ‘n’) never looked so good! But where’s the Lancaster?

  • sundawg7 replied 20 days ago

Thanks a bunch Sheila…and indeed it IS Dundurn and not Dundum. That goofus announcer should be made to spend a couple of nights in the castle with the spirits for his blunder. BTW, I missed the Lancaster by a day. :-) XO, Ron

Oh RON!!! Isn’t this gorgeous!!!!!! A beautiful structure … love your angle!!!! And oooo ghosts!!!!!!! WHEEE!!!

  • sundawg7 replied 19 days ago

Thanks bundles Lois for your most generous compliments. Very grateful for them. A friend of mine felt a chilling presence when he took a tour a couple of years ago. The staff though won’t own up to the haunted bit despite my friend’s experience…and the fact the castle is on the city’s haunted list. Best wishes, Ron
