On a January evening in Beaufort NC the lights from the pier and the boatyard color the water and create a beautiful view from the third floor of the Beaufort Inn.

What a lovely view to have from your window! I find night photography very challenging. This is undoubtedly due to my reluctance to cart a tripod about with me!
I just used the balcony railing! lol We have a tripod, but it takes about an hour to attach the camera to it, so I never use it. I see people with tripods. They set everything up and then wait. Meanwhile, I take several shots and use the best. I assume they get their perfect shot, but I feel a bit sorry for the partner who carries the gear and then must stand around and wait!!

Totally agree!
