Breakfast at Winterthur Estate in the 1930s and 1940s was served to each person in their own bedroom. Christmas was an exception, when the two daughters were allowed to come to their Mother’s room to open their Christmas stockings and have breakfast with her. These are the dishes they used and the scones represent a probable Christmas treat.
Winterthur, an American country estate, is the former home of Henry Francis du Pont. The home opened as a museum in 1951. It is located in Delaware, USA.
