The Pretend Story…
Grandpa Massie’s proof of this event is his amazing photo of the Fire Moon over the New London Waterfront which he took on August 19th, 1959. People alive at the time will never forget that night! In subsequent years many would recall with wonder what came to be called the fire in the sky. Will we ever see the likes of this night again?
Only time will tell.

The True Story: New London is an old whaling port located on the Thames River in Connecticut (USA). I took this digital photo in July 2000. There is a ferry boat tied to the pier at the right. I took the photo of the moon in Jan. 2010, almost 10 years later, when the moon was supposed to be the largest (closest) it appears to us. My own cloud layer plus 6 other layers have also been added to this image in Corel Paint Shop Pro.
