This old wishing well is somewhat hidden, tucked away by the gate leading into the walled section of the garden. The other approach to the well is a path through tall shrubs. The secluded spot makes it seem a bit mysterious, as if wishes made here may very well come true.
This well is on the grounds of Eolia, the elegant summer mansion of the Harkness family. Named Eolia, for the island home of the Greek god of winds, the mansion was built in 1906 and purchased by Edward and Mary Harkness in 1907.
