An all spice shop in Burj Hammoud, a suburb in east Beirut, which is one of the most densely-populated cities in the Middle East, heavily populated by Armenians as it is where most survivors of the Armenian Genocide settled.
Most commercial activity is done at street level. It is viewed as an important shopping area of Lebanon.
It is a center of the crafts and hand made industry such as jewelry, the leather made industry and garments.
