My artistic objective is to perceive movement. The subject matter will not always be in motion but there will always be dynamics by way of attitude. When that attitude emerges, I want it to grab hold and shake things up a bit. I have a way of zooming in on my subjects so that they each emerge with a distinctive personality. You’ll see that I paint from a highly personal viewpoint. With vivid color and an atypical perspective, I hope to strike an emotion chord.

I’ve been looking at all your new uploads but I keep coming back to this. It has a nice contemporary feel to it in a Judy Garland kind of way.

Did you know the way her hair falls over her ear is almost the outline of a rose? I’m likin’ that!!! I think I like this so much because it allows me to see what I want to see in the painting. It gives me just enough and then my imagination lets me fill in the rest. Is there a rose? Maybe. The viewer can imagine what colour her dress is and her eyes. I think that’s why I like art like this so much….it lets me think and see beyond the canvas.

  • Thanks Austin for the nice write-up and also making her one of your favorites. She was sold too and I thought she deserved another life with me. I know what you mean by the ear and I agree with you 100% about paintings that you view, that let your imagination go; always makes you want to keep looking over and over again
