The Power of a Flower by MaTT Sugden

I wanted to write about the connection between two seemingly different things. This is what came out of that idea. It took me a while to write this poem because I had to make sure that it flowed well. Also choosing specific words that weren’t repetitive was difficult. I’m happy with the result.

A flower brings power
To those who may feel down
A flower gives power
To those in nature
Or in a town
A flower is so simple
Yet so precise
It may bring a dimple
Or astound some mice
It’s one of those objects
In our world
That brings happiness
To any boy or girl
Whether you’re black, white
Hispanic or Asian
You gotta admit
It’s pretty amazin’
When I see a flower
I stop and look
Almost like I’m reading a book
The words on the surface are important too
But I focus on the details
I don’t know about you
Realize that a flower
And a person are nearly the same
They both are beautiful
But sometimes can be lame
A flower needs water
A flower needs sun
So does each and every human
We all share this earth
We’re all interconnected
If a flower grows
We are all effected
